Russian Summer Offensive.
This drawing, showing Nazi soldiers retreating from the attacking Russian soldiers, is captioned "[Russian Summer Offensive] 'But the Fuehrer said, Russia was a hot spot only in winter!'..." This work was first published as an unshaded line drawing in P.M., a New York daily newspaper, August 15, 1943, on page 2; later it appeared in its present pencil-shaded state in Arthur Szyk's famous second book of war satires Ink & Blood, A Book of Drawings, as plate XXXIII.
